
Master Instructor James Eagleman
1SG/MSG (RET) James Eagleman has a 26-year Army career, Sniper and Master Instructor. He was selected as the Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army Sniper School and U.S. Army (Sniper Training Course 5th SFG) Graduate. James was a Master Instructor for the US Army, teaching ITC and OPS SGM by position NTC. He has the distinct ability to take the most difficult ballistic subject and teach it in a manner that anyone can understand and apply it. Because of his unique training abilities, he is recognized by many as one of the best long-range instructors in the civilian world today and is also the former Director of Shooting Instruction for Gunwerks Long-Range University. James was the Instructor at Barbour Creek Long Range School from 2017 to 2026. James not only brings years of military experience with combat and expeditionary deployments overseas, but also has many years of training civilians in long-range hunting, internal, and external ballistics, and extensive experience in film/video. His revolutionary wind calling technique is considered by many to be the most comprehensive taught anywhere in the world. He has been featured on the television shows “Long Range Pursuit,” “Precision Hunting TV,” “Spiritual Adventure Outdoors,” and “The High Road with Keith Warren,” as well as numerous firearms blogs, articles, and instructional videos. His passion is training students in the art of Long-Range Hunting, as well as watching them learn and grow. James’s wind reading techniques are so accurate that they are sought after by civilian hunters, US Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy snipers, US Marshals, FBI, and a few Secret Service, as well as some overseas military units (UK Marine Snipers and SAS) have requested to come here and to learn his wind technique.

The Course (2 Day)
This course is designed for the shooter who is new to long-range hunting and for the most seasoned shooter. The course is 50% classroom and 50% range time each day. The average long range shooting student will feel confident shooting steel out to 1000 yards and hunting 700 to 800 yards. Rifles and ammunition are provided for each class.

Class rifles are suppressed; we do not provide hearing protection.
Bring hearing protection for after-class shooting.
We have spotting scopes in class, but you are welcome to bring a better Spotting Scope if you have one IE: Swarovski, Zeiss or Leica

If any trainee is ineligible to carry or own a firearm, they will not be eligible to take any Long-Range Courses, including Non-US Citizens, without preapproval.
“Due to current interpretations of (ITAR) International Traffic in Arms Regulations stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, only current, lawful “US Persons” – both US Citizens and lawful permanent Resident Aliens in possession of a current I-551 (colloquially known as a “Green Card”) are allowed to participate in NRA-type firearms training courses.
Bottom line – just as the ATF Form 4473 states the legal requirements to buy a gun, those same requirements apply to gun training.
